Scheduling a Drop-Off

To schedule a drop-off, please call us at (860) 684-3505 or email nemp2013@gmail.com. Cutting instructions must be received at or prior to delivery of livestock. We urge clients to provide instructions at least one week before processing. If cut sheets are not provided at drop-off, a $25 fee will be assessed.

Cut sheets can be filled out directly on our website: newenglandmeatpacking.com

If you need assistance with cuts not listed on our sheets, please call us. Our experienced butchers will guide you to maximize the value of your animal.

Processing Protocol

A. Drop-Off

  • Animals arrive on site and are tagged/identified.
  • Cutting instructions are collected (must be provided at or before drop-off to avoid a $25 fee).
  • If any cuts are unclear, our butchers will assist you on site.

B. Slaughter

  • Once slaughtered, products are hand-skinned and dressed.
  • Animals are weighed and moved to processing.

C. Processing & Packaging

NEMP agrees to process and package meat products to the customer’s specifications, within limitations due to standard equipment settings, packaging materials, and current order demand. We will make every effort to fulfill orders accurately and promptly. Special orders/requests require 48 hours’ notice.

  • All products are vacuum sealed unless otherwise specified.
  • Thick plastic packaging and bone guard material (if necessary) to prevent breaks or leaks.
  • Labels include:
    • Package Date
    • Farm Name (printed at no extra charge)
    • Weight
    • U.S.D.A. Legend
    • Barcode
    • U.S.D.A. Est. Number (packed by NEMP)

  • Edible organs (hearts, livers, tongues) can be processed but are not guaranteed to pass inspection at all times.
  • Product will be frozen for pick-up unless otherwise agreed.

Storage & Holding

Animals are stored in a separate aging cooler to prevent tampering and cross-contamination.

  • Storage Fee: $100 per week (packaged products).
  • Disposal Fee: $50 per pallet (1,500 lb of meat).

Pickup Timing

  • Frozen Products: Must be picked up within 72 hours of packaging to allow space for other frozen products.
  • Bulk (Non-Vacuumed) Products: Must be picked up within 24 hours of order completion to avoid spoilage; otherwise subject to disposal.
  • Finished (Non-Frozen) Products: Must be picked up within one week of order completion.
  • Delivery Options: If you cannot pick up products in time, we can deliver—please provide adequate notice, as we may have other commitments.

Upon order completion and invoicing, our team will contact you to inform you when products are ready for pick-up.

Personal Consumption vs. Wholesale

If you are processing for personal consumption, meat can be custom-cut. The only difference between U.S.D.A.-processed and custom-processed meat is that custom-cut products cannot be sold to the public. Labels on custom-cut packages will not include our U.S.D.A. establishment number and will be marked “NOT FOR SALE” to ensure they are used strictly for private consumption.

Although it is not necessary to slaughter animals under inspection for personal use, this option is available at the same price. All products include safe-handling instructions to promote food safety at all times.
