FAQ for Eid al-Adha 2025 Qurbani

1 │ What animals can I order and how much do they cost?

  • Whole Beef: $550 deposit + $6.80/lb hanging weight (take‑home ≈ 300 – 500 lb of meat)
  • Lamb: $480 (40–45 lb) – price includes $30 processing
  • Goat: $530 (40–45 lb) – price includes $30 processing
  • Beef Share: ≈ 80 – 100 lb boxed beef at $6.80/lb
  • Special‑breed requests (e.g., Angus) require an additional $400 deposit to secure the specific animal.

  • Why the beef price still saves money
Buying a steer “farm‑style” on live weight might read $2.50 – $3.00 per lb, but you also pay the processor—and only about 60 % of the live weight turns into edible meat. When the dust settles, your true cost is roughly $7 – $9 per take‑home pound. Our hanging‑weight rate of $6.80/lb already includes the plant work and yields the same premium steaks, roasts, and ground beef—so you keep more meat for fewer dollars and skip the extra logistics.

    2 │ How do I reserve?

  • Beef (whole) is deposit only. Head to the Qurbani section at newenglandmeatpacking.com/qurbani to place the $550 deposit and lock your spot.
  • Lamb & Goat can be reserved online or by phone at (860) 684‑3505 ext 0 until sold out.

3 │ What does “hanging weight” mean on beef?

Hanging weight is the carcass weight after the hide, head, and organs are removed. Final boxed weight is about 60–65 % of that figure.

4 │ What are my options for fulfilling the sacrifice (Qurbani)?

  • B. Self‑Slaughter: Come on‑site, select your animal, and perform Zabiha yourself. You may then
    • 1. Stay (≈ 4 – 6 h) and do your own cutting/packing when called, or
